Today, I couldn't make it to school. Was I sick, was school cancelled, no and no. A huge storm struck where I live. Of course, the school I go to was one of the only ones still running on schedule. It just wasn't safe for me to try to go to school. Normally, I would be glad to miss a day of school, even a bit overjoyed, but not when I had a speech to give, a important test, and a meeting with one of my professors. Not a good day to miss.
Turns out, I probably couldn't have made it to school if I tried. A mudslide covered the highway on the way to school, and there was a ginormous backup, as in a several hour backup. Basically, all the snow from the weekend melted, high winds (50+ MPH gusts) and unheard of rainfall (over 6 inches in 24 hours) all struck at once. Roads were flooded, mudslides abundant, trees falling down, not your average storm. Then, our power went out. Not only was I missing school, stuck at home, now the power was out. After 7 hours, the power came back on, but not before my entire day was wasted.

WOW! I think I heard about the same storm on radio today. It's the same one hitting WA and OR coasts, right? Sorry to hear about the extreme weather up there. Let's see...the high temp today here was...80 degrees! Yep. Santa Ana winds. Your storm is causing a high surf warning down here for tonight and tomorrow.
I remember driving the old brown Honda Civic to TESC in the cold winter from Shelton to Oly., and seeing icicles hanging from that one giant rock just past the cutoff to Matlock (the casino now). The road could get very slippery. Drive with care.
Yep, same storm, but Mason County was one of the hardest struck areas. I wish I could go boogie-boarding! Oh, and yes those ice crystals from the big rock, I used to always see them when I was little, now that I drive, I don't notice them so much. I guess because it is usually dark when I drive, and I have other things to focus on, such as the other cars.
I made it to school safe and sound.
Then you should have given me a ride. But seriously, you weren't affected by the mudslide at Steamboat Island?
yea we were and you could of called us danny. We will always make it!
