Stuff Done

Today I got quite a bit of stuff done. I wanted to get as much done as I could today to be as free as I can be tomorrow. I looked for classes to register for, read the articles I needed to, did my math homework, and wrote an extra credit essay for another class. It felt good to get a lot done today, but not so good to still have stuff I didn't get to that I need to do tomorrow.

Major Accomplishment

Today I finally declared my major. I have known since I got here what I wanted to major in, but hadn't officially declared it. First quarter, I had to finish some prerequisites before I could declare the major. This quarter, I was waiting for my final transcript to get evaluated before declaring, but that is another story. With registration for next quarter a couple days away, I finally had the proper motivation to figure how to declare my major. Today I officially declared political science as my major.

Perilous Paths

Today the campus was covered in a layer of ice/snow. I almost fell several times on the way to class. The campus looks beautiful covered in snow. It does, however, add a few minutes to the walk to class which needs to be factored in if one wishes to arrive to class on time.

Feeling Good

Yesterday, I was finally free from midterms. It felt good to be done, but I felt sick all last night. This morning, I was glad to wake up feeling fine. I was surprised when it started snowing today. I was even more surprised when it started sticking. So far, there is around an inch on the ground with the possibility of more to come.

Flagged Down

Today, while I was walking to my math class, a professor flagged me down. He wanted me to help him carry some stuff to his class. I gladly helped out. Why he chose to single me out of the crowd, I don't know, but I didn't mind helping him out.

Needing To Know

Today I had an economics test. Some of the questions were confusing, they seemed ambiguous. Hopefully, I correctly interpreted them. I have a design test tomorrow. I know what I need to know for it, but that is different than knowing what I need to know.

Weekend Wrap Up

Today wrapped up a fun weekend. Although it was hard, I found time to study for my economics test tomorrow. After my weekly Sunday Sundae ritual, I felt compelled to swim a few laps at the rec center. Tonight, I watched a movie with my roommate and suitemate. Now, only my economics test and design test the next day are left to conquer before I can celebrate true freedom.

Digging and Dodging

Today I joined a work party. We did various projects around the yard of someones newly remodeled home. I was asked if I knew how to wield a shovel. I am not sure if I answered correctly because I got the job of cleaning off the dirt covered driveway with a shovel instead of the job of digging a hole with the shovel. It was nice to be able to help them out, and the pizza and donuts they provided were nice as well. Tonight I participated in a dodge ball game. I came ready to play, headband and all. It was a really fun game, and overall a really fun day.

Worded Weirdly

Today I had a math test. It was all story problems. There was one question that was worded weirdly, trying saying that five times fast. I asked for clarification, and hopefully understood the problem. Other than that, I feel really good about the test.

Lots of Unfree Time

Today I didn't have class until 5:00pm. One would think this meant I had a lot of free time today, but I really didn't. I was busy all day, and was almost late to the one class I did have. I was having printer problems, and had to abandon my hopes of printing something before class. I have a math test tomorrow, and a lot of my time was taken up studying for it. I can't wait for the weekend, although I have a lot of studying to do during the weekend as well.

Term Trouble

Today I had a midterm in my political science class. I spent all my 'free time' yesterday studying for it. I even woke up early this morning to review one last time. There were 90 key terms we had to be familiar with. Out of the 90, there were only three I really couldn't define easily. I thought to myself, "what is the chance one of those three ends up on the test?" Well I can tell you, it is 3.3%, and it happened. Overall, I feel like I did fairly well on the test. One test down, three more to go.

Fun Finished

Today I returned to Western. I got home by van, ferry, and car. I returned to college by car, train, bus, and walking. The walk from the downtown bus/train station to the college with all my stuff was painful, mainly physically. I already miss my family and had a great time visiting them. I look forward to when I get to go back.

Circular Logic

Today my dad and I went jogging with my uncle. We jogged to a trail and split up. Long story short, we had trouble reuniting with each other. One doesn't think to look for messages written in the dirt when they are looking for someone. I can't imagine how much harder it would have been if we wouldn't have been on a circular path. Next time, cellphones.

Trip Down

Today we went down to Oregon to visit my brother. It was nice to see him. We went to a Mongolian Grill for lunch, and it was very good. It was nice to see his dorm room for the first time. Although it doesn't seem fair how much larger his dorm room is. I don't even know what we would do if we had all that space .

Ungolfed

Today my father and I were going to go golfing. We got all ready and drove to the golf course. Nobody was there, and for a good reason. There was still snow on the ground at the golf course. It would be hard trying to find, or hit for that matter, a golf ball in the snow. Places around the golf course didn't have snow, but the golf course has more shade with trees lining the fairways. I still had a fun day, and hopefully we can make it to the driving range before I head back to college.

Home at Last

I am home for the weekend. It is good to be home, and with my family. I wish I could stay home longer, but I will enjoy what time I do have.

Homeward Bound

Today I had quite a bit to do before I head home for the three day weekend. All week, I have been looking forward to going home. But it has been overwhelming thinking about all I have to do before I leave and when I get back. It will be nice to be home, and hard to come back to college.

Early Late Start

Today I didn't have class until 1:00pm, and it was the only class I had for the day. I was a bit tempted to sleep in, and not even set my alarm clock. Instead, I got up earlier than normal and went running for 10 miles.

Unsticking Snow

Today it snowed. Unlike back home, it didn't accumulate. It was fun to go for a walk around campus with the snow falling. I am thankful it snowed after I went trail running, or the trail would have been even more muddy. I wonder what tomorrow will hold.

Beautiful Bay

Today I went running down to the bay. The sun was setting and it looked beautiful. I wish I had a camera, but I didn't. Although, I'm not sure I would want to carry a camera with me while I am running. Maybe I will have to walk down to the bay and take a picture sometime. It won't be anytime soon though, it is supposed to snow tomorrow.

Dog Gone By

Today I went jogging. Every time I pass a dog, I still get a bit nervous. Nearing the end of my jog, I saw a dog in the distance. This dog was not on a leash and was sprinting right towards me. It didn't look like the nicest dog, and it was quickly approaching.

It kept getting closer and closer. I thought about turning and running away from it, but I knew it would catch me if that was its goal. I would only delay the inevitable. As I braced for impact, the dog sprinted past me literally within a foot. I am not sure why it ran right at me, but glad it decided to keep running past and not attack. It does need to learn to share the road though.

Weekend Wonders

Today it was nice to relax. I did manage to get all my homework due Monday done as well. The weekend always feels nice after a busy/stressful week of school. Even better is knowing that next week I don't have any tests or projects, that I have a class cancelled for two days, and a three day weekend to look forward to.

Debate Over

Today I had a debate in my Political Science class. I was assigned to debate that voter age restriction laws are democratic. It was an interesting topic to research. The debate went well. I think my supposed-to-be-funny quote was understood by most of the class. Although, one guy did ask about it 10 minutes later. Hopefully, it wasn't the takeaway message of my part of the debate.

Math Madness

Today I had a math test. I felt prepared for it beforehand, but all that can change the moment the test is placed in front of you. That was sort of the case today. I feel like I may have done fine, but I also feel like I may have not done well. Either way, it doesn't really matter. The lowest score is dropped. But it would be nice to have done well on it. I will find out soon enough.

Meetings and Math

Today I had three meetings. Tomorrow I have a math test. The day after that, I have a debate in one of my classes. A lot has happened already this week, and even more stuff is still to happen. I will be glad when my math test is over tomorrow so I can quit thinking about it. Then, it is on to the next project.

On Time to Waste Time

Today I left later for a class than I normally do. In this class, attendance is taken so I didn't want to be late. It is also a very large class, so it can be hard to find a seat. Speed walking all the way to class, I made it on time.

The teacher was handing back tests, and being such a large class, it took the first 20 minutes to do so. I could have been 20 minutes late today, in fact, it would have been better to be late and not sit there while tests were being handed back. I guess my fear of tardiness was unwarranted in this situation.

Not too Badminton

Today I played some Badminton at the Rec Center. It has been years since I played in PE. I played a couple games, and thankfully I was paired with an excellent player. He was nice, even if he had to get the shots I should have been getting or that I missed completely. It was fun, maybe I will play this sport again soon.

Track to the Future

Today I ran my fastest mile of all time. I ran my previous best time in an 8th grade track meet. It feels good to finally beat that time, to know I am faster now than I was in 8th grade. What didn't feel good was to have the team I wanted to win the Super Bowl lose the game in the last seconds of the fourth quarter.
