Rewriting a Wrong

Today I started on my essay, again. I am finding it a bit harder than the first one to write. Thankfully, there is still enough time to work on it. It would be nice to get inspired on this new essay like I was on the first one. Maybe it will take another four hour writing marathon.

Uneasy Essay

Today I didn't run to any of my classes, but that doesn't necessarily mean I was on time to all of them. I wrote a rough draft for an essay due Tuesday. After getting an email back from the professor, it looks like I need to redo the entire essay which is a bit disappointing. Essays haven't been going too well for me this quarter.

Running after Jogging

Today I went jogging before class. I was running late after jogging, so I had to run to my class to make it on time. I also learned a bit of a painful lesson. Last week, I had a paper due. I put a lot of thought and effort into it. A bit too much perhaps, my paper was six pages instead of the assigned three.

The issue area my paper was on just had more that needed to be covered. I got the essay back today and received a grade of A-. Not bad, but a bit disappointing that the only thing wrong with my paper was that it was "way too long". All that extra work not only didn't pay off, it actually hurt my grade. I would have gotten a better grade if I threw together a three page paper. Lesson learned.

Jog to Jogging

Today I fell asleep after my alarm went off. Thankfully, I had hit the snooze button so it went off again shortly. This caused me to be running late to my jogging class. I had to jog to get to my jogging class on time. I actually had to jog to get to my next class on time as well. Although I didn't get to class before the bell rang, I did get there before the professor. I need to allow a little more time, or a lot more time, from now on.

Back to Business

Today I returned to college. The normal car to train station, train to bus station, bus to Bellingham, and a walk to my dorm. Thankfully, I finished all my homework on my way home earlier, so I was able to relax today. I am not really looking forward to an 8:00am jogging class tomorrow to welcome me back to college.

Weekend Waning

Today was my last full day home. Tonight, I helped at a charity event for my father's school. Helping at the event was actually the reason I came home this weekend in the first place. I've had a great weekend home, and am not really looking forward to leaving back to college in 11 hours.

Soccer, Half, and Golf Shots

Today was a busy day. Instead of going to class, I helped teach a PE class. I can't remember the last time I had to do so much yelling, not in a bad way, just in a talking so everyone spread out across the field can hear me sort of way.

I also went to coffee with my family and grandparents. It was nice to see them. I even tried having a coffee drink. After coffee, my father and I went golfing. It was great. We both played well overall, and each hit some amazing shots. It is nice to be home.

Train Connection

Today I decided to surprise the family members I didn't tell of my plans and come home for the weekend. I had to run most of the way to the bus station to make it on time for the 2:50pm departure. Thankfully, I got on the bus with a few minutes to spare. The bus took me to Seattle where I caught a train to Olympia.

My little sister was on a class field trip to Seattle today, and was riding the train home. My mother and older sister joined her on the field trip. Long story short, I caught the same train they were on.

I didn't tell my mom I was coming down for the weekend, or that I would be catching the train she was on to do so. I went up to her on the train and tapped her on the shoulder and said "excuse me". She apologised (I don't know why) and glanced up at me, after a double take, she couldn't believe it was me. Needless to say, she was very surprised. I was a bit surprised as well to be coming home.

Games On

Today I played some soccer. It was nice weather outside, and it was fun to be outside kicking around a soccer ball. It didn't even really matter that our field was getting encroached upon by a game of kickball and that both our soccer 'game' and the kickball were encroaching on a softball game. There was enough room for all the sports to coexist peacefully. I enjoyed the nice weather and a break from studies.

Hindrance

Today during my racquetball PE class I got nailed by the ball in the face by a slam from my opponent. It didn't hurt too bad. The most painful part was that it was the other team's point because I 'hindered' the ball. In fact, I probably deserved it after accidentally doing the same thing to someone last week.

Running Late

Today I left a bit later for my class than I planned. The bells rang 10:00am as I approached the building my class was in, I was officially late. But wait, who is that person running past me? It's my professor also running late to class and literally running to class. Hopefully, I learned a lesson. Hopefully this lesson was not that I don't have to get to class on time if my professor doesn't.

Softball Season Starts Sadly

Today I played some soccer. Afterwards, my team had our first softball game of the season. My first at bat, I struck out. It is a bit embarrassing to strike out in slow pitch softball game. My second at bat, I grounded out to the pitcher.

Things weren't going well. I was at a bit of a disadvantage having not played much softball as well as the count starting out with one strike and one ball on each at bat to speed up the game. The 'safety' softballs we were using were more like a small soccer ball which didn't help either.

I came up in the bottom of the 7th with two outs. Things weren't looking good considering the games only go 7 innings and my team was down 7-2. I 'hit' the 'ball' to third base, I wasn't going to be the last out of the game. I ran as fast as I could to first base and was barely safe. My team rallied after that, but the game ended with the tying run at third base. It wasn't the best way to start out the season, personally or for the team, but hopefully things will get better.

(Game 1: 1-3, one run scored, Loss 6-7)

Softball Hard

Today I continued to work on my essay. I also had my first softball practice. I eventually found where the team was practicing. It has been a while since I played softball. I was able to make a few good catches and hits, but the first ball hit to me went under my glove and past me. It was a bit embarrassing, hopefully it doesn't characterize the rest of my softball season. We'll see how the game goes tomorrow.

Essay Day

Today I continued to work on my essay. Hopefully, I am almost done with this essay. Unfortunately, I will be done just in time to start the next essay. And if I thought this one was hard, I am in for a big surprise when I start the next one.

Paper Plodding

Today I continued to work on my essay. It is a brief summation of Germany's Christian Democratic Union party's stance on economic issues, as well as comparing it to the other major political parties. I am making progress, but still have a ways to go. Thankfully, I have a couple more days to work on it.

Uneasy Essay

Today I started an essay that is due next week. I thought I was starting plenty early on it, but now I am not so sure. The essay is going to take a bit longer to write than I had originally planned. At least I now I know, before it is too late.

Back to Books

Today it was a bit hard to go back to classes after such a nice break at my house. Thankfully, I already finished all my reading homework for tomorrow on the ferry and bus ride back to college yesterday, so I didn't have to worry about it. What will be harder still is getting up for my early jogging class tomorrow morning.

Off to Luncheon

Today I left home after a nice long weekend with the family. Before heading back to school, I had a scholarship luncheon to attend in Seattle. After stopping by my father's school and saying goodbye to my little sister, I got a ride to the Bremerton ferry.

My mother, sister and I made a memory trying to find the ferry, each other, and have me catch the ferry all at the same time. Once in Seattle, in my I'm-going-to-a-luncheon garb, I had several taxi drivers ask if I needed a ride somewhere. That was something I wasn't used to.

Although it was a bit tempting to take a taxi just for the fun of it, I walked to the hotel it was being hosted at. I eventually figured out the directions I had were in reverse, but having a map was helpful. A literal block away, with the building in sight, I had to stop and ask some police officers for directions. The road to the hotel was under construction, and I thought they didn't want me to go on it. I asked them how to get to the hotel, I meant if I couldn't go down the block leading to it. I guess I could go down that block because they said I could and I did. It was a bit embarrassing to have to ask for directions when I was so close and literally in sight of the huge hotel.

Once inside, I didn't really know what I was supposed to do after I checked in. The luncheon was mainly for the Seattle business elites, and I really felt out of place. At the table, I didn't know what all the utensils were for, or even which ones were mine. The food was good. I really liked the dessert even though I have no clue what it was, all I know is that it was orange in color.

The governor gave a speech to the business elites about the health care system and green color jobs. The owner of the Mariners was in attendance and mentioned by just about all the speakers in some fashion. I wanted to meet him and overwhelm him with my Mariners knowledge so much so that he would had to give me some tickets, but I never had the chance. Overall, the luncheon was a unique and interesting experience even if I felt way out of place.

fEaster

Today it was nice to celebrate Easter with my family. My grandparents on my mom's side hosted a marvelous meal for my family and grandparents on my dad's side as well as my great grandparents. It was a special meal, and a nice send off before my return to college tomorrow.

Hunt is on

Today it was fun taking my little sister to some local Easter egg hunts. Thankfully, the weather wasn't too bad. My sister did a great job and was a good sport. She has come from a long way from the days she would only pick up the blue Easter eggs. Maybe my coaching and training has paid off.

Back Home

It feels good to be home for Easter weekend.

Bad Mad

Today I was a bit mad when my professor didn't give our class the five minute break in the middle of class that he usually does. Two hours is a long time to sit in lecture, and the five minute break is really nice, it almost feels mandatory. Instead, he showed us a funny (but relevant) British comedy show for the last 45 minutes of the class and let us out early. It sure made up for not having our five minute break and made me feel bad for being a bit mad about have our break taken away.

Jog On

Today was the first day we actually jogged for more than five minutes in my PE class. It was nice to actually be jogging. If I am going to get up so early for a jogging class, then I actually want to jog in it. Now, if I could just fall asleep a bit sooner the nights before my early PE class.

Re-Routined

Today I feel like I finally returned to a routine. It took a little over a week, but I am used to the new quarter and have developed my daily routine. Hopefully, this will continue to include the rec center.

Not Missing Monday

Today I thought I was going to be at a scholarship luncheon in Seattle. Therefore, I thought I could do my reading homework for today on the bus to and from Seattle as I was going to have to miss my class anyway.

Late last night, I figured out the luncheon is next Monday. That meant I was not going to miss class today. The next couple hours late last night were spent finishing my reading homework. It was not fun reading page after page about the difference in 19th century crop yields in China compared to England, especially so late at night.

Today I had my 8:00am jogging class today, so I had to get up early. In my jogging class, new students in the class had to fill out paperwork, so only five minutes of the class were actually spent jogging. Then in my political science class I stayed up late finishing the readings for, we didn't even talk about the readings at all. I was so tired this afternoon, I spent several hours of it napping. I also started the Wednesday readings for my political science class, another 50 pages on the differing crop yields of China and England.

Spring in my Step

The past few days the weather has been glorious. The sun has been shining, the birds chirping, and people out in masses enjoying the nice weather. The fountain in Red Square has finally been turned back on after a long, dormant winter. Hopefully, the nice weather continues, it has a way of cheering up people.

Sleep In is Out

Today I slept in a bit later than I wanted. It was nice to get a good amount of sleep, but not nice to feel like I slept half of the day away. Although I didn't work on homework as planned, I did play some soccer and went to a fun game night. Hopefully tomorrow I will get up a bit earlier.

Going Postal

Today I learned a valuable lesson and skill. I needed to mail something but didn't have the right size envelope. It took me two tries, but I made a fairly decent envelope. I then found out I only had ten minutes to make it to the post office on the other side of campus before they closed for the weekend.

I had put so much time and effort into making my envelope, I really wanted to get it in the mail today. I had to run/sprint to the other side of campus. On my way there, I saw some family friends and their son touring campus. I didn't have time to even slow down so I just said I had to get to the post office.

I ended up making it to the post office just in time, but felt bad I had literally ran by people in the process. I suppose that is better than running over people, but I still felt bad. I spent the next couple hours trying to find them, but I couldn't. I not only learned how to make a nice envelope today, but learned a valuable lesson that people are more important than postal deadlines.

Reading Rightnow

Today I did quite a bit of walking and reading. I walked down to another bookstore off campus because the campus bookstore didn't have the book I need for one of my political science classes. Thankfully, the other bookstore did. The bad news, I then had to read the first 63 pages before class tomorrow on top of another 25 page article I need to print and read. The other two books I need to buy for that class can wait. Welcome back to college.

Ups and Downs

Today was a bit of a depressing day. I had registered for an economics class I didn't have the prerequisites for. So, I found out today that I will have to drop it and I can't find anything to replace it with. I then found out I am not a finalist for the internship I applied for. It all sort of hit me at once. But the more I think about it, things could be a lot worse and aren't really even that bad. Now, I will have more free time for the difficult classes I am taking and my summer can be spent with my family.
